Escape Monthly Subscription Box Review, August 2013 & Coupon Code
August is the first month of the new monthly subscription box Escape Monthly. It's a self-described “vacation in a box”; this month's vacation is Napa Valley AKA wine country.
Escape Monthly ships from Lake Oswego, Oregon via U.S. Postal Service Priority Mail.
First glance, I love the blue chevron packaging – it just feels fun and fresh.
All the products inside.
Tiesta Tea – A sparkling white grape loose leaf tea.
Cookie Zen Cookie & Corks – 5 cookies to pair with wine.
nakedwines.com – $50 gift card which is worthless to me since my state prohibits online sales of alcohol. I guess my imaginary vacation to Napa Valley is set during Prohibition. Maybe, I'll surprise a friend in a less restrictive state with a gift.
Floating Bath Candles – These make me nostalgic for a time in my life where baths were romantic and luxurious, not hurried or rare.
7th Heaven Detox Mud Mask – 100% natural with no artificial preservatives, I will be trying this soon!
SukiBody butter cream salve – Made in the USA, organic, very thick and creamy, smells lovely if you enjoy lavender and cocoa butter which I do. I see myself purchasing a full-size product soon.
Mineral Essence Dead Sea Bath Salt – I am a little leery of these since I was once harassed by a woman in a mall peddling Dead Sea products, but these are not those products and spearmint and rosemary sounds delightful so I will give them a try.
100% Pure green apple body scrub – To me this is pure luxury, it's 100% natural, made in the US, one of its corporate offices is in the Louis Vuitton Building on the Champs Élysées in Paris and it comes in a BPA and phthalate free jar with a label printed in non-toxic soy ink. 6 ounces of guilt-free heaven!
Napa Soap Company – This is roughly the size of a complimentary hotel bar of soap. It's handmade in Napa and smells lovely.
All Natural Loofah Bath Sponge – 100% natural fiber, it will be great in a bath or spa themed gift since I prefer washcloths.
Mixture Luscious Lip Balm – Goes on smoothly and it only has six listed ingredients including SPF 15. I could do without the wintergreen flavoring since it just makes me think of chewing gum.
Moon Handbook on Napa & Sonoma – With a one year old it is unlikely that I will make it to wine country very soon but I will use it to daydream and plan a future vacation.
For me this was a fun box, I really like and look forward to using most of these products. Not every item was great (see unusable wine gift card) but I consider those to be the low moments that occur in any vacation. I am looking forward to next September's Oregon vacation themed Monthly Escape. I love both the ardent green rain forests of Oregon and the quirky, indie-ness portrayed in Portlandia.
